A thought

I hate the term grammar nazi.

1. Comparing a love of the written word and a desire for comprehension in language to the soldiers/political party that systematically murdered millions is kind of offensive.

2. I feel like it minimizes the impact of the term “nazi,” which seems to be gradually transitioning in pop culture from, “evil murderous asshole,” to, “a humorously stern pedant.” One is harmful, one is not. They do not equate.

3. English is a living language, and the entire notion of fixed and absolute grammar rules is somewhat ludicrous. Our language is constantly undergoing evolution in spelling and style. In my opinion, the most valuable guideline consistency.
