gratitude journal 11-7-12

I feel so very Patriotic right now. I’m singing and shit.

So that’s my number one gratitude. On the heels of it:

I’m grateful Ref 74 passed. I know, I know, it’s still close and there are still votes to be counted. But the news has called it and HRC announced it on FB, so you know it’s official. It’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me — gay marriage has been approved in Washington state. Which means if I ever die, John can marry whomever he might fall in love with — guy or gal. Which means my coworker Cat can now get married. Which means my husband’s ex may not have to move to New York to marry his bf, but can get married right here in rainy Washington.

I’m grateful 502 passed. I don’t actually even smoke pot anymore. Haven’t for years, not since I was a teenager. But seriously, pot being illegal? Bullshit. It’s utter bullshit and so pointless. Check one for Washington state.

I’m grateful Mittens didn’t succeed. He tried to buy and steal this campaign. There were all sorts of reports of voter fraud on the GOP side, but in the end the American people won the day and Mittens lost. I’m really grateful that democracy won out over corporate soullessness.

And most of all, I’m grateful that I was able to celebrate with my family and loved ones on this momentous occasion, as we greeted the joyful news that our 44th President is Barack Obama. I am so proud to be an American right now.
